(SLJ Activity 46 Normal / Step up task) That was Summer!

Hey viewers, today I made my own That was Summer Poem. For the normal task I had to make a That was Summer poem. Then for the step up task I had to make another That was Summer poem but I had to make a Screencastify of me saying the poem. The hard thing doing this was thinking of sentences to write. The easy thing recording but I was nervous same time. So I hope you guys like it!

  1. Tēnā koe Kali, this is Elle from the Summer Learning Journey.

Tino pai tō mahi e hoa! You have done a fantastic job at both the kick-start and step-it-up portions of the That Was Summer activity! I appreciate how much effort you have put into your pictures and your slides! It was so great to hear you reciting your poems and bringing them to life too!

What I find the most captivating about your poetry is your use of different senses, like the yummy taste of smoothies, the feeling of the cool breeze from the fan, and seeing movies! Using lots of sensory language adds imagery and helps your readers to relate more to your writing, so ka pai!

There were so many neat sentences in your poem that I find it tricky to pick a favourite! I think the one that made me smile the most was “remember fridges, putting our hands inside to cool them down.” I really like this sentence because it took me by surprise. From looking at your picture, I thought it would be about the fridge being stocked with summer foods, so I really like that you put a twist on it and described something unique that I think a lot of us can relate to! I have definitely held my hands up to the cool air of the fridge to cool me down before!

What has been your favourite Summer Learning Journey activities so far? It has been so much fun reading your blog posts this summer!

Well done Kali, keep it up!
